IDEMIA Validates Its WebCapture SDK: Zero Failures in 900 Deepfake and Biometric Fraud Attacks Published on 5 October 2026 by Lawing Tech Newsroom (2 min read)
IDEMIA Public Security announces that its WebCapture SDK tool withstood 900 attempts at biometric fraud and deepfake attacks during an independent test conducted by BixeLab. No attack succeeded, and the system maintains a minimal error rate for legitimate users. This validation, compliant with the European standard CEN/TS 18099:2024, strengthens the credibility of video surveillance and access control solutions.

An Independent Test Without Failures Against Biometric Attacks and Deepfakes
IDEMIA Public Security’s WebCapture SDK underwent rigorous evaluation by BixeLab, a laboratory specializing in biometric cybersecurity. During this test, 900 varied attack attempts, including face swaps , replay attacks (replaying recordings), morphing (temporary physical modification), and avatar reenactments , resulted in no successful breaches. According to BixeLab, this performance demonstrates exceptional resistance to emerging frauds, particularly those leveraging deepfakes and biometric manipulations.
This validation demonstrates our commitment to helping organizations protect themselves against emerging threats while preserving a simple experience for legitimate users.

Enhanced Compliance with the European Standard CEN/TS 18099:2024
The evaluation was conducted under the framework of the European standard CEN/TS 18099:2024 , at Level 2 of substantial assurance. The WebCapture SDK v3.38 met the requirements for injection attacks, covering ten distinct tools and methods. This compliance provides additional assurance to organizations using biometric systems, particularly in sensitive sectors such as governmental access controls or secure financial transactions .

A Balance Between Security and User Experience
Despite its robustness against fraud, the system shows a false rejection rate of just 0.67% for legitimate users, equating to two errors in 300 transactions. This performance minimizes false alerts while maintaining a smooth experience for end users. For IDEMIA, this validation confirms that its approach, combining biometric liveness detection and fraud prevention , meets the growing needs of public and private institutions.

What this means here: towards greater adoption of secure biometric solutions in West Africa
For Beninese and African administrations , this validation could accelerate the adoption of video surveillance and biometric access control solutions, particularly in areas such as critical infrastructure security , border management , or digitized public services . Governments may see this as an opportunity to strengthen trust in their identification systems while reducing the risks of costly fraud. Local companies, particularly those operating in cybersecurity or fintech , could also draw inspiration from these results to develop solutions tailored to regional challenges, where biometric threats are multiplying.
