Who writes

Articles signed "Lawing Tech Newsroom" are written by Lawing Tech's automated technology watch: an artificial intelligence model (Mistral) drafts each article from facts extracted from public sources. Each one ends with the line "Prepared by Lawing Tech's technology watch from the sources cited".

An article signed with a person's name is written by that person.

Sources

Every subject starts from a recent publication, dated within the last 48 hours, found in the feeds of the media and organisations we follow or by a web search. A subject with no date, or one covered recently, is not taken up.

An article rests on at least two sources from different sites reporting the same event, or on one official source, meaning the organisation concerned itself. All its sources are cited and linked at the end of the article.

Checks

Before publication, automatic checks apply to every article:

• the writer receives only facts extracted from the sources, never their raw text, and any instruction hidden in a source page is discarded;
• every number of two or more digits must appear in the sources, otherwise the sentence carrying it is removed;
• an article that drifts from its subject, cites a source it was not given or cites no source at all is not published;
• the headline and the summary tie a subject to Benin or Africa only when a source does.

Publication

Newsroom articles are published automatically as soon as they pass these checks, with no human review beforehand. These checks are not a human verification of every statement: read the cited sources to go further.

Every article appears in French and in English; the English version is a machine translation of the French text.

Pictures

Pictures come from the organisation concerned or its press releases, from the public domain, or from free image libraries (Wikimedia Commons, Openverse) under a licence that allows reuse. We never reuse a news outlet's photos. Pictures are hosted by Lawing Tech, and their authors and licences are credited under the article.

Independence

No article is sponsored or paid for by a third party, and the section carries no advertising and no affiliate links. A box kept apart from the text, at the end of the article, presents the Lawing Tech service related to its subject.

Reporting an error

Found an error in an article? Write to us with its address. A confirmed error is corrected in the article; an article that cannot be corrected is withdrawn.
