ABLOY expands its CUMULUS solution to cylinders for mobile key-free access, enhancing security and flexible management

ABLOY, the global leader in locking systems, announces the extension of its CUMULUS platform to a range of cylinders for doors, offering key-free access via mobile devices. This solution, designed for demanding environments, combines reliability, centralized management, and resistance to harsh conditions. It complements already proven features such as secure event logging and compatibility with existing systems.

An expanded solution for key-free access now applicable to doors

ABLOY, a subsidiary of ASSA ABLOY Group, extends its ABLOY CUMULUS keyless access management solution to a new range of door cylinders, according to information published by SDM Editors and CEPRO. Previously limited to padlocks, safes, and other locking devices, this platform now includes cylinders compatible with doors, meeting the growing demand for customized integration (CI). This expansion allows users to open doors with a simple mobile device, eliminating the need for physical keys while ensuring a high level of security.

Access points can now be managed remotely via a single system, enhancing traceability and protecting access rights against unauthorized use.

Technical features: battery life, traceability, and resistance to extreme conditions

The new CUMULUS cylinders operate on battery power, enabling real-time synchronization and advanced smart features, such as secure access event logging, device status, and environmental data. According to SDM Editors, this solution is particularly suited for demanding outdoor environments, where reliability, security, and centralized access management are priorities. The platform ensures enhanced traceability, protecting access rights against any unauthorized modification or use, as highlighted by ABLOY in a quote shared by CEPRO.

Another major advantage lies in its ability to operate stably even with limited network connectivity, making it a robust solution for isolated or hard-to-reach sites. The user experience remains consistent across all CUMULUS devices, offering a smooth and intuitive interface.

Flexible management and compatibility with existing systems

The CUMULUS solution is based on the ASSA ABLOY Access software or tools developed by partners for flexible access management. It also enables retroactive upgrades on existing ABLOY locking systems, thereby reducing costs and disruptions for organizations looking to modernize their security infrastructure. This extended compatibility meets the growing demand for the digitalization of access systems, as noted by CEPRO, which observes increased adoption of these technologies beyond commercial environments, now including residential systems as well.

What this changes here: opportunities for businesses and administrations in West Africa

For businesses and government agencies in Benin and West Africa, where security and access management challenges are often compounded by diverse infrastructures and sometimes harsh environments, this innovation could offer several advantages. Organizations could streamline access management by centralizing control through a single platform, thereby reducing risks associated with the loss or duplication of physical keys. This would be particularly useful for sensitive sites such as data centers, warehouses, or government buildings, where tracking movements is critical.

Moreover, the resilience to extreme conditions of the CUMULUS cylinders could address the challenges posed by tropical climates or rural areas, where traditional systems often struggle to operate reliably. Public administrations, for example, could enhance the security of critical infrastructures while optimizing maintenance costs through compatibility with existing equipment. Finally, integration with partner software opens the door to customized solutions tailored to the specific needs of local businesses, such as SMEs or financial institutions.
