Gallagher Security Receives NPSA Approval for Its High Sec T30 Biometric Keyboard: A Benchmark in Critical Security

Gallagher Security announces that its High Sec T30 Keypad Reader terminal has received approval from the UK’s National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), a certification recognized as the gold standard for maximum-security environments. Designed for sites where no compromise is acceptable, this device incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as FIPS 140-3 encryption and optical tamper detection. According to Jason Hunter, Gallagher’s security manager, this certification

The Technical Criteria That Make the High Sec T30 a Standard for Ultra-Secure Sites

The High Sec T30 Keypad Reader stands out with a combination of features designed to withstand the most advanced threats. According to sources, it supports MIFARE DESFire EV1, EV2, and EV3 badge technologies, while ensuring secure communication via the HBUS protocol and FIPS 140-3 certified cryptographic storage. This demanding US standard guarantees enhanced protection for sensitive data against attacks.

The terminal also includes optical tamper detection on the rear, a dedicated key-locked physical lock with alarm zone status indicators, and environmental certifications IP68 (immersion resistance) and IK09 (shock protection). Its compact, screenless design makes it ideal for restricted spaces where discretion is key, as highlighted by Sean Kelly, Gallagher’s product manager: « Designed for sites where security cannot be compromised, the T30 offers a practical format for situations where no display is required. »

Organizations responsible for critical infrastructures need confidence that their security solutions have been evaluated by independent and rigorous government standards.

NPSA Approval: A Passport to Governmental and Critical Markets

Obtaining NPSA (National Protective Security Authority) certification under the « Readers and Keypads » standard positions the High Sec T30 as a solution validated by British authorities for sites with national stakes. According to Jason Hunter, this approval is « recognized as a benchmark for excellence in security » and strengthens Gallagher’s credibility with demanding clients, particularly in defense, critical infrastructure, and government sectors. The NPSA, under the UK Home Office, assesses products based on criteria aligned with the needs of British and European security agencies.

Gallagher is no stranger to this field: the company had already obtained CAPSS 2021 and AACS 2022 certifications in January 2026 for its Command Centre and High Security Controller 6000 solutions, as well as for the High Security C7000. The T30 thus fits into an overall strategy of compliance with the strictest standards, as Sean Kelly reminds us: « Organizations responsible for critical infrastructures need trust, and this certification provides independent proof that our solutions meet rigorous government requirements. »

What this changes here: opportunities for Beninese and West African infrastructures

For businesses and administrations in Benin and West Africa, where data security and access control are becoming a priority with the digitization of public services and the rise in cyber threats, this certification opens up prospects. Sensitive sites such as government data centers, airports, power plants, or oil facilities could benefit from proven solutions in comparable environments, particularly those governed by European or British standards. For example, initiatives like the National Plan for the Development of Digital Infrastructures in Benin could integrate devices like the High Sec T30 to secure physical access to data centers or control rooms.

Additionally, the terminal’s compatibility with technologies such as MIFARE DESFire EV1, already deployed in some African countries for biometric identity cards or professional badges, would facilitate its adoption. Local administrations could thus standardize their access systems while strengthening their resilience against hacking or bypass attempts. Finally, the NPSA certification could serve as a commercial argument for Beninese or regional security integrators seeking to offer solutions aligned with international standards, a valuable asset in a market where trust in suppliers remains a key criterion.

A broader ecosystem: Gallagher and its partners for turnkey deployments

Gallagher Security does not limit itself to selling terminals: the company offers integrated solutions including access control, identity management, and video surveillance, as demonstrated by its portfolio of NPSA-certified products. In Benin, stakeholders such as SOGEBANK or critical infrastructure operators could be interested in these offerings to modernize their physical security systems. The High Sec T30’s compatibility with existing technologies, such as MIFARE Classic or Plus badges still used in some administrations, would reduce migration costs.

Furthermore, Gallagher’s mention of its experience in protecting government and military infrastructures enhances its credibility with African decision-makers, particularly in countries where partnerships with European actors are seen as a guarantee of reliability. Projects such as border security or special economic zones could thus draw on similar references to justify their investments in physical security.
